This blog used to have a focus that didn’t really match what I wanted it to be at this point in my life, so I’ve switched things up and am very excited. My life has changed gears and I’ve found that I am drawn to things that many moms and married people are drawn to (who are usually older than me), but I’ve decided I don’t want to wait years to enjoy the things I love. I’m going to start now. Get ready for recipe reviews, decorating tips (mostly for people on a tight budget), lots of inspiration, crafty projects, and much more! I’m excited and cannot wait to get the blog into gear.

What a better topic to start with than cookies! Last Christmas when I was home from school, my mom made the most amazing cookies from Paula Deen. They are White Chocolate Cherry Chunkies, and they are the most delicious cookies I have ever tasted in my life. That is not an exaggeration!

Now, they may look festive, but they are great for any time of the year. In fact, my mom made them again less than a week ago and we are left with this:

How can you possibly not run to the store to pick up some candied cherries after seeing these pictures? If you don’t like cherries, don’t fret because these are a perfect blend of cherries, white chocolate, and macadamia nuts. The pictures on the Food Network recipe page show bigger chunks of cherries, but when we make them with our Kitchen Aid, the cherries are chopped more finely which makes it a more subtle addition to an already delicious cookie.

The only warning about these cookies is that as soon as you make them, you will eat them – every last one. If you are on a diet, I wouldn’t recommend them unless you have an outrageous amount of self-control. I would love to try these with some substitutions to make them more diet-friendly, however, so I may do a recipe makeover of these cookies in the future.

In the meantime, what is your favorite cookie? Have you ever had a cookie with fruit in it? Have you tried these – please do if you haven’t and let me know what you think!
