A Girly & Glam West Elm Inspired Inspiration Board

It has been a while since I last whipped up an inspiration board (you can see all inspiration boards here).  I love making them and sharing ideas with others, but they do require a lot of work.  When I saw a post about Mood Board Monday at Pewter and Sage, I was immediately inspired to join with a fresh new inspiration board!  This mood board party requires different elements every time it is held.  This time, we got to choose between three different types of West Elm products from their Parch NYC collection: framed wall art, pillow covers, and ceramic serveware.

I chose the framed wall art because I was immediately inspired by it.

The butterfly, turtle, and bird pieces spoke to me the most and seemed to be best placed in a nursery for a little girl.  I imagined painting the frames in two different shades of pink and then creating a completely glam and girly nursery with pinks, purples, greens, yellows, and whites.  I love how it turned out!

purplegreennurseryCalming Aloe paint from Benjamin Moore provides a neutral but slightly green backdrop for all the flower-inspired elements of the room.  A curvy crib with romantic lines is the perfect place to sleep with green houndstooth and pink polka dot fabrics to make it a little more fun.  Clothes and diaper changing happens on the beautiful purple dresser which is made even more romantic with a glamorous chandelier and colorful art that reads, “Breathe & smile.  It’s a brand new day!”  The sitting area in the room is designed around this beautiful floral rug.  A purple custom loveseat is the perfect place to rest and the tufted storage bench is great for putting feet up as well as for storing toys, like the bright sock monkey.  A classy mirror and ruffled curtains tie everything in for the ultimate girly and glam nursery, fit for a much-loved princess.

After making this inspiration board, I decided I want this room!  I’d take out the crib and add a queen sized bed and be ready to go.  I’d even keep the sock monkey!  Although I don’t think babies should grow up too fast because they are only young once, I see nothing wrong with decorating in a fun, more mature way!  There’s never anything wrong with a fun, feminine, and floral bedroom in my book!

So what do you think?  If any of you participated in this blog party, let me know – I’d love to check out your spin on these West Elm products.

To join the party or look at the other entries, head to Pewter and Sage for instructions and the party post itself!

  • I am loving your glamorous nursery! It is playful and fun, yet elegant at the same time. Great job!

  • Aw, what a great mood board! Those animal prints are incredibly cool, but what I’m digging most is the ruffled curtain panels. And the sock monkey. Of course. :)

  • What a pampered (hypothetical) baby! The whole room is gorgeous!

  • What a fabulous room. I have a daughter, so I’m always attracted to all things girl!! I’m especially in love with your lighting choice and the rug. What fun focal points that can be enjoyed for many stages. I have used that light in several of my client consults!

  • What a beautiful nursery board. I love the vintage inspired feel this room has, along with the bright pops of color found in the rug and other accessories. I also love the idea of including a small loveseat in the baby’s room… it will inevitably be put to good use when it comes to feeding time.

  • Hi, Sarah! I’m so glad you could join us, thanks so much. And now I have to go check out the rest of your blog. I wish I had my stuff together as well as you obviously do when I was in college;) This is such a beautiful room..I love how we’ve had a couple of nurseries among the entries today, especially because we’re just starting to think about the nursery for our baby girl who’s due in September!! I love that this room isn’t too babyish and will definitely grow with her as she gets older. Such a great idea to paint the frames of the prints pink:) I love the combination of fabrics with that really cool rug, and those ruffly curtains are adorable. Thanks again!!

  • I think this is super cute!! I want a little girl to do a super cute nursery for – like this one! = )

  • Love your nursery! I did one too – thought those prints were perfect! Love your color scheme and that dresser is beautiful!

  • Feminine and fun but not too babyish. The rug sets a really fun, energetic tone for a kids room and I like the addition of the West Elm pics to the color scheme. Great ideas for a nursery.
