Now that I’m home for spring break, I have time to really look at my room and see what more can be done to make it better. I have big things in mind for it to plan for the summer when I have more time, but for now I’m getting the inspiration juices flowing. I’m thinking of really showcasing the bed by putting some fabric from floor to ceiling behind the bed. As you can see in the photo below, the room is lacking the finishing touches, so this will be my first step to creating a more finished room.
I have lots of other ideas, but I just want everyone to have a small taste of what I’m thinking of to last until the summer. I don’t think I can wait that long!

This week I was pleasantly surprised with my first blogger award from Kristi at Life at the Cheateau Whitman. She presented me with the Sunshine Award, which made my day week month. I would love to send it right back to her because her blog is amazing with lots of talk about decorating, photography, pets, exercising, and food (all of which I love, obviously), but the rules are to pass it on to twelve other bloggers, so that is what I am here to do.
I read a lot of the more well-known bloggers, but I try to focus my attention on bloggers more like me or those who are still gaining readers and starting out. I love so many, but here are the twelve I am passing the beautiful award on to.
These are listed in no particular order.
Britt at Cucumbersome
Leah at Marital-Bless
Molly at Molly Frey Design
Kelly at Old House Dreamer
Leigh at Brabourne Farm
Amanda at Serenity Now
Chelsea at This Fresh Fossil
Grace at Sense and Simplicity
Dana at Bungalow’56
Caroline at The Feminist Housewife
Bria at Plan B Happy
Cristin at Simplified Bee
If you would like, you can pass the award

When you have a bad day do you just want to take it out on your room? When something good happens to you, do you suddenly have the urge to cloak your home in yellows and pinks? My question this week for you to think about is do you let your mood invade your decorating?
I don’t have any scientific way of approaching this question, but I think my mood in some ways does influence what I am inspired by on a given day. I wouldn’t say on bad days I am drawn to blacks and dark rooms and bright and airy rooms on good days, but I think the overall level of sophistication versus casualness sways depending on my mood.
When I’m more serious and mature in my thinking (probably when I’m feeling especially studious and in control), I tend to be drawn to more serious, sophisticated rooms such as these:

I have been thinking a lot about how I am going to decorate my apartment next year when I am living on my own in a studio. I really want something new and fresh, but I also want something that will last me a few years without me tiring of it. I am also looking for something I can use in my room at my parent’s house if I ever want to switch things up a bit. I love redesigning rooms, so I have found the key to my room designs has to center around the ease at which I can affordably change the room with just a few switcheroos. For a bedroom, I have decided the best way to do this is to stick with very neutral bedding and a basic color scheme, maybe with one main color other than neutrals, and switching the room’s feel by buying a few sets of inexpensive sheets and changing them whenever I need something new.
I have designed a room to explain what I mean.
I went with a very neutral but still fancy bed with a

I am a huge fan of switching out ground beef for ground turkey. Ground turkey breast is a very healthy alternative which offers lots of protein but a lot less fat and calories than ground beef. I first heard about pulling this switcheroo on The Biggest Loser, and after trying it I was hooked! You would think it would lack flavor, but it really doesn’t and they are so juicy! I love adding different seasonings and sauces to my burgers anyway, so transitioning was no problemo for me.
I’ve made them a few times, with the help of my trusty pastry chef boyfriend San of course (he is better at making burgers than me), so when we made them a couple weekends ago, I was sure they would turn out perfectly. Boy, was I wrong. Although they tasted good, we did almost everything wrong, so now I am here to tell you just exactly how NOT to make turkey burgers. I’m a firm believer in letting you all see the harsh realities of what goes on in my kitchen as well as all the good stuff. Let’s get started!
Step #1: Buy the wrong kind of ground turkey. This is the
