I often search Craigslist for inexpensive furniture, even though I have no need for any or any money to buy anything. I just like to see what I could buy if I were looking to buy and what I could do with a piece once I bought it. I realized that there is no rule that says I cannot imagine I am buying something now and recreating it, so I am going to present one Craigslist dresser I found for $50 in three imaginary rooms: a vintage-inspired bedroom, a child’s vibrant playroom, and a soulful luxurious bathroom. All of these would be simple to recreate and easy on a budget. All would look great in my imaginary rooms. Here is the dresser:

Here are the three ways I would refinish the dresser according to the different imagined rooms. Keep in mind that they all involve three big changed: paint, drawer pulls and knobs, and drawer lining which can be decorative paper or wrapping paper that would be glued on using Mod Podge. All of these would be fairly simple projects that anyone could do.
This dresser would be repainted in Benjamin Moore’s White Water. I would take out the center drawer pulls and drill holes to make two knobs on each drawer like the top drawer with these depression green glass knobs. Then I would line the drawers with this gorgeous and fun Chiyogami First Bloom on Light Blue paper. The overall look would be light, vintage-inspired, with a nice oceanic and springtime feel. It would look great in a bedroom with similar colors that is not too serious with lots of vintage details.
This dresser would be repainted in Benjamin Moore’s Sweet Orange. I would use the center drawer pulls for every drawer because they would be easier for kids to use and they would be very sleek like these stainless steel bar pulls. Then to add even more fun to this dresser, the drawers would be lines with this adorable blue goldfish paper. This would look fun, fresh, and would definitely be a hit with kids and would work in a very modern colorful home. I can see it in a room with lots of sleek lines and geometric patterns with many colors that are kid friendly, or in a monochromatic room with a set color scheme and lots of white.
This dresser would be repainted in Benjamin Moore’s Sea Foam. I would keep the drawer and knob placement the same and use these matching antique nickel drawer pulls and knobs. Then I would line the drawers with this gorgeous Sorento Grey paper. The paper looks much better on the web page than it does in the image above. This would look very light, airy, with a very luxurious feel and the lining would give it a very elegant flair. I imagine this in a bathroom full of light with lots of antique qualities and soft muted grays, whites, and blues.
Which of these dresser redos is your favorite? Have you recreated a Craigslist find? Please spill all the details, I feed on this kind of stuff! I can’t wait to be able to tackle a project like this in the future. I have already redesigned furniture in this way, which you can see here.

I like your ideas! We got an old dresser from my mother-in-law awhile ago…. painted it black and put brushed nickel hardware on it. It’s amazing what a little paint can do.
I’m torn between the bedroom makeover and the bathroom makeover. I think both would be beautiful to me. I like all of them I am just looking a more of an adult room perspective. It is amazing how easy it is to freshen furniture up and be a wonderful addition to your home! Just takes a little imagination and some elbow grease!
