This week I have decided to make Thankful Thursday a weekly blog party for anyone to link to Dream In Domestic and say what they are thankful for. I tend to write a lot in my Thankful Thursday posts, but I would love even just a picture of something that shows what you are thankful for or a short list of some sort. I just think it is nice to take time and not only be thankful, but to share with others what you are thankful for. I encourage anyone to join this blog party whenever thankfulness hits.
This week I am very thankful for an email that was sent to me, but because I messed up my contact form (which is fixed now), I do not have the sender’s email address. I only know her name, so if you sent this, please comment or email me back, I would really love to respond personally. This is what the email said:
I just have checked out your blog. May I comment what an extraordinary youth you are. I am 64 years old and very impressed with you. Keep it up young lady and your future is going to be exceptional and when you reach my age you will have many people who admire and esteem you and your life and what you have offered society. May God bless.
I am posting this not because I want to show off or anything (I never think very highly of myself), but because it just shows me how kind people can be sometimes. I have been having a rough week at school, and feelings of failure and frustration have been hitting me a little too hard. I am learning that I cannot always perform as well as I think I can, which is humbling but at the same time very hard to come to terms with. This email made me think of myself in a different way, that it is not the daily things we strive to excel at that make us good people, it’s the fact that we try and spread love to others that really matters. No human, except for one who was fully divine and fully human, has ever been perfect at everything.
I think sometimes, especially in the United States, we strive for perfection and always come up short. If we can all just tell someone around us that they are good people and recognize their triumphs and also their persistence even when they are not reaching their own expectations, not only will we feel better but so will the person we are encouraging. I was shocked to receive this email at such a random time that it meant a lot to me. I kept rereading it, wondering why I deserved such kind words. I am now determined to tell others I care about who may not know it, something I am proud of them for or see they are doing well. I encourage you all to do the same.
So what are you thankful for? I would love if you could comment and if you have a blog, also post about it. If you do link back, please link back to this post so everyone else knows how to join if they would like to. Make sure when entering the address to use the permalink to the actual post, not to the main blog. I’m excited to see what everyone is thankful for this week!

Sarah, Your featured e-mail just said what your family knows to be true, although we don’t say it nearly enough. I am always thankful for my family.
Casey
Sarah, I am not that good at the linking back thing. I posted about Thankful Thursday on my blog, but you did not show up on it. :-/ SORRY!!!! You maybe need to teach me.
You are a very precious young lady Sarah….I agree with Casey…..your family and all of us, are blessed to know you. ;-)
I agree with the posted email you received, you are a very competent and accomplished young lady! I am thankful for my family and that I was able to meet a deadline for work with unbelievable effort. I didn’t think I was going to meet the deadline. Although it was really hard I did it. I don’t want to have to be under that kind of pressure too many times in the future. I am thankful for my home which I love. I love everything about it. It makes me feel good to be in it and to look at it from the outside to the inside. I feel God has been very good to me.
Words of encouragement to others around you is one of the best things you can give to others. Also, you can learn so much more when you have many minds working on a subject rather than just one. Being thankful is probably one of the most important things that will effect your life and for the lives of others around you.
Sorry I missed your blog party yesterday. I’ll try to remember next week.
What am I thankful for…. well, I’m thankful that I only work three days a week, because that gives me four days to do all the stuff I need to do at home, like painting & homework & projects for clients :-)

DesignTies,
No worries! I knew it wouldn’t get much attention since I didn’t give any forewarning.
That’s great you are able to work three days and then work from home four days a week. That’s what I dream of doing one day, but we’ll see if it will ever happen. Thanks for sharing!
